Folders in Telegram X

The Beta version of Telegram X for Android now supports chat folders.

To enable the display of folders, you need to activate them in the experimental settings. We have written about how to do this here.

You can download the Beta version from Google Play after joining the beta program or from the official channel @tgx_log.

Select a Folder in Telegram X When Forwarding a Message

In Telegram X, you can select the folder where destination chat is located.

In Telegram for Android, there is no folder selection in a similar screen. However, you can forward messages with folder selection via the pop-up menu.

Select an Icon for a Folder

In Telegram X, you can select an icon for each folder. These icons are synchronized with desktop client.

Telegram for Android doesn't have this feature.

Select the Folder Appearance

In Telegram X, you can choose how folders are displayed.

There is an option to enable the displaying of only icons, only titles or all together.

The "All Chats" folder in Telegram X is displayed in the icon form, regardless of the setting.

Telegram for Android has no such feature.

In Telegram X, you can hide folders instead of deleting them.

This feature can be useful if you want to temporarily get rid of a folder. The hidden folder has no effect on the total folder limit.

Message Reading Time in Private Chats

In the Beta version of Telegram for macOS, users can now see the time when their conversation partners read their messages in private chats.

Previously, we reported that in the Telegram source code for iOS, there was a discovered feature allowing users to hide the message reading time.

New Privacy Settings

In the Beta version of Telegram for macOS, new privacy settings have been introduced.

• Who Can Message Me
This setting allows you to choose which groups of users can send you personal messages: "Everyone" or only "Contacts and Premium"

• Hide Message Reading Time
If a user can see your last seen time, they will now also see the time when you read their messages in a private chat. However, the new setting allows you to hide your reading time of their messages from such partner. When this option is activated, you also won't see when your conversation partner reads your messages.

Updated on Jan 18th
Restriction does not work if you have sent any messages to private chat with a user.

Video Playback Speed Slider in Stories

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android, a new feature has been introduced, allowing users to smoothly adjust the playback speed of a video within a story. The adjustment range is from 0.2x to 2.5x, with increments of 0.1.

To make adjustments, simply tap on the three-dot icon and choose the "Speed" option from the pop-up menu.
