⚡ Boosts in Groups

The Beta version of Telegram for Android has introduced boosts in groups.

The @tginfo editors have talked about what features the boosts bring to the group here and here. However, some other features have been found in the Beta version 10.8.0:

• Only supergroups can be boosted. There is no such ability in regular groups.
• The number of boosts a group needs to get each new level is different than in channels. Let us remind you that in channels this number is equal to the total number of subscribers divided by 250. The formula for groups is still unknown, but it is already clear that each level in a group requires much more boosts: probably, for groups the total number of members is divided by 25.
• The number of boosts is displayed next to the messages of those members who have given their boosts to the group. Apparently, it is not possible to disable the display of this information.
• The service message that someone has transferred their boosts is not always displayed in groups.

⚡ Boosting a channel via the three-dot menu

The Beta version of Telegram for Android now has a button for boosting a channel via the three-dot menu in the header. Previously, users could only boost channels by using a special link like t.me/boost/betainfoen.

This feature was added in groups earlier on.

🏪 Telegram for Businesses

Beta versions of Telegram for Android and macOS introduced several features for businesses:

• Greeting Messages: Automatically greet new customers.
• Away Messages: Reply to customers with specific messages when you are away.
• Quick Replies: Set up shortcuts to write messages faster.
• Opening Hours: Let your customers know when you are available.
• Location: Display your office’s location in your profile.

Additionally, business owners can choose an emoji status to be displayed next to their name, include folder tags in their chat list, and post stories. Although these features aren’t part of the offering directly, they reside in Business Options.

As of now, these features are unlocked by subscribing to Premium.

🏪 Greeting Message

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android and macOS, you can now add a greeting message that will be automatically sent to new customers.

The user can configure who will receive such messages: all personal chats (except for specified exceptions) or only selected conversations.

In addition, by moving the slider, you can choose how many days after your last conversation the client will again receive a welcome message from your account in response.

🏪 Away Message

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android and macOS, you can now add a message that will be automatically sent to a chat with a customer during your absence.

As with greeting messages, the user can configure who receives such messages: all personal chats (except for specified exceptions) or only selected conversations.

Among the available scheduling options when Telegram will be able to send such messages for you are:

• Always send.
• Outside of business hours (determined by your work schedule).
• Set a period (the schedule is set manually for a specific period of time).

Business owners can enable the “Only if Offline” option so that the messenger does not send clients a message about your absence if you have recently logged into Telegram.

🏪 Quick Replies

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android and macOS, it became possible to create prepared replies with media files and formatting.

To create a new Quick Reply, the user will need to specify a short name for it. After this, you can add messages that will be sent to the chat with the client using a slash command.

Greeting message (/hello) and away message (/away) are automatically included in the list of quick replies if the user has added them in the corresponding sections of the settings.

You can view ready-made templates not only in the settings, but also in any personal chat. To do this, type "/" or open the attachment menu and select the "Replies" tab.

🏪 Business Hours

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android and macOS, you can now specify your business work hours in your profile.

The user can choose which days of the week will be work days, and which days will be weekends.

For each working day, you can add a hypothetically unlimited number of work periods, taking into account lunch breaks and other breaks.

If the client's time zone does not match the time zone specified in the business account, the user will be prompted to view the business's work hours based on local time.

🏪 Location of Business

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android and macOS, you can now display where your business is located in your profile.

The user can enter the business's address either manually or by selecting the location on a map, after which the location will be automatically filled in the text field. If location is selected, editing the “Address” field will still be available, but the location on map will not be changed.
