Attachments in Polls and Much More

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android 12.6, the poll feature has been significantly improved.

The tool has received a wide range of new features:

• You can now add a text description to a poll — it will be displayed before the question.
• Certain types of media files can now be attached to answer options, poll descriptions, and quiz explanations.
• A new option allows group chat participants to add their own answer options to an existing poll.
• The poll creator can now prevent users from retracting their vote.
• A new setting allows displaying answer options in a random order for each user.
• In quiz mode, you can specify one or multiple correct answers.
• You can now set a voting deadline, after which the poll automatically stops.
• If a poll timer is set, you can activate a setting that hides the voting results until it ends.
• The number of users who voted for an option is indicated next to it.
• The length of the bar under each option now depends on the proportion of users who chose that answer among the total number of voters.
• If somebody votes in your poll, a corresponding indicator is now displayed on the group in the chat list or as a floating button inside the chat itself.

Actions With Poll Answer Options

The Beta version of Telegram for Android 12.6 has received several more options that improve the poll interaction experience.

• Long-pressing an answer option in an existing poll opens a preview where you can switch between action windows — either for the selected option or for the poll as a whole.
• Users can reply to a selected answer option, as well as copy its content.
• A special link is generated for each answer option — for example, t.me/tginfoen/2160?option=MQ. Following it highlights the corresponding poll option.
• If a member adds own option to the poll, the details about this will be displayed in the option preview. The poll creator can decide to remove a newly-added option too.

Expanded Profile Playlist Functionality

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android 12.6, users can now add tracks to their profile directly from their device storage and the Shared Audio section, as well as search for saved music using keywords or characters.

Motion Photos Support in Telegram

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android 12.6, it is now possible to send and view motion photos.

The concept behind these shots is that the camera in this shooting mode simultaneously records a short video without sound — usually 1-1.5 seconds before and after pressing the shutter button.

Different smartphone manufacturers name motion photos differently, for example, Top Shot on Pixel, Motion Photos on Samsung, Live Photos on iPhone, and Dynamic Shots on Xiaomi.

In the messenger, such images are marked with a special icon. All users can view the new media type, even if their device's camera does not support recording the "motion photos".

If you want to send a motion photo as a static image, disable the "Motion Photo" option in Telegram's media editor.
