The Iranian side released footage from the shootdown of a U.S. Air Force MQ-1 Predator UCAV on May 31, 2026.

According to the statement by U.S. Central Command, the MQ-1 was performing a mission over international waters, while Tehran claimed it was operating over its territorial waters.

In response to the shootdown, the United States carried out strikes on Iranian military infrastructure in southern Iran.

“Ukraine’s attacks on Russian oil refineries set a record in May, threatening to further hurt processing that’s at a 16-year low and risking domestic fuel shortages just as summer holiday demand picks up.

Ukraine carried out at least 16 attacks on Russia’s fuel-producing facilities in May, according to a Bloomberg tally of public statements from both countries. Drones targeted eight of Russia’s 10 biggest refineries last month, the data show...

Ukraine’s attacks mark a shift in strategy from previous years. It’s now not only targeting primary refining units — which have been relatively easy and quick to repair — but also secondary units, including high-value and technically complex ones”

RT @GregoryPWaters: New profile of a small subdistrict in rural Tartous, where three young former opposition fighters from Idlib have built a close relationship with the Alawi villages. Important lessons to be learned from the approach these men have adopted.

RT @KyleJGlen: 🇷🇺 use of long-range OWA drones continues to escalate throughout 2026. The 🇺🇦 air force reported a record 7,433 drones launched in organised overnight (and daylight) raids in May. This beats the previous "record" by nearly 1,000 and brings 2026's total to approximately 30,000.

RT @ChrisO_wiki: 1/ Ukraine has effectively done to Crimea what Iran has done to the Strait of Hormuz: it has reportedly scared Russian insurers into blocking all civilian-hauled oil supplies to the peninsula and occupied southern Ukraine for fear of drone strikes. https://twitter.com/Acuteremod/status/2060032490547351853#m

Russia produced approximately 74,000 OWA drones in 2025 and plans to produce 127,000 in 2026, including 12,000 Geran-4 and 12,000 Geran-5 jet engine variants, which recently entered serial production. Interestingly, Russia has reduced the production of certain missiles to afford increasing the production of OWA drones, but budget constraints could affect the actual production figures. https://twitter.com/KyleJGlen/status/2061395925197533485#m

“Drivers in Russian-controlled Crimea were grappling with gasoline rationing on Monday after Ukrainian drone attacks constricted road supplies ‌across south-eastern Ukraine, Reuters witnesses and officials said...

Moscow-backed Crimea governor, Sergei Aksyonov, said limits had been imposed on sales of the most commonly used gasoline, Ai-95, and that people would have to use fuel coupons for purchases.

In Sevastopol, the largest city in Crimea and the traditional base of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, Reuters witnesses reported long queues at filling stations.”
