Anyone with any knowledge of security in the tech world will tell you that cyberwarfare is the new major battlefront (do a quick search for "Stuxnet" if you're skeptical!) Our threat models are significant - we face both major damage to infrastructure dude to nation-state-led attacks, to minor security flaws being exploited (as in the recent WannaCry ransomware.)
Despite a plethora of ethical hackers, it's clear that the overall approach to cybersecurity is fairly abysmal. There are some ways that ethical hackers can 'turn in' found security exploits, and several employment opportunities, but not enough. As such, many found security exploits end up being sold for cryptocurrency on the dark web.
Hacken would like to change this, by creating a robust ecosystem with two primary goals. One is to provide various platforms for ethical hackers to receive compensation for auditing software while providing blockchain-backed certificates of vulnerability testing for companies. The other is to turn the emergent & booming cybersecurity space in Eastern Europe in the "cybersecurity Silicon Valley."
