Am in Pahang, Malaysia, at the invitation of His Royal Highness Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Her Royal Highness the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. I will also be travelling to Terengganu.

My visit builds on the strong momentum of bilateral exchanges and I hope will strengthen Singapore’s longstanding and multifaceted ties with Malaysia’s states and their leaders.

On the drive to Kuantan, I visited the Malayan Tiger Conservation Centre. The Malayan tiger is critically endangered, and seeing these magnificent animals up close is a stark reminder of the need to protect the species. go.gov.sg/ph26y

Had an audience this morning with His Royal Highness The Sultan of Pahang and Her Royal Highness The Tengku Ampuan of Pahang at the Istana Abdulaziz. Grateful for their hospitality, friendship, and generosity over the years. This visit reflects the close ties between both sides, and the importance of continuing our engagement and cooperation. Went for a #jalanjalan in Kuantan before dinner last evening. I started at the Kuantan Art Street, strolling through a vibrant area of colourful murals, each telling its own story. I then made my way to Kuantan 188 and took in views of the city from the tower – a landmark standing 188 metres tall over Kuantan, the capital city of Pahang. go.gov.sg/1wdpv1

Had a good meeting with Menteri Besar of Pahang Dato’ Sri Diraja Haji Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and other State leaders this morning. We took stock of the Singapore-Pahang relationship and noted that bilateral relations remain strong. We also discussed ways to deepen our partnership and explore new opportunities. Wrapped up my visit to Pahang yesterday. Spent a meaningful afternoon with His Royal Highness The Sultan of Pahang and Her Royal Highness The Tengku Ampuan in Pekan. Their Royal Highnesses graciously hosted us for lunch at Kafe Gerabak and personally showed us around the Muzium Sultan Abu Bakar. Thank you for the warm hospitality and the good company!

Arrived in Nanning, Guangxi, for my visit to China this week. As a regional capital close to Southeast Asia, Nanning is a main gateway for cooperation between ASEAN and China. Happy to see the success of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor during my visit to the Beibu Gulf International Port Group HQ yesterday. The world is in an unsettled state. International trade is also affected. Had a good meeting and dinner with Guangxi Party Secretary Chen Gang this evening. Singapore and Guangxi share longstanding ties. We underscored the importance of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative - New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (CCI-ILSTC) to regional connectivity and strengthening ASEAN-China economic linkages. go.gov.sg/swsku2

Also visited the China-Singapore Nanning International Logistics Park (CSILP). Not only is it a node for inbound trade from ASEAN to China, it also provides logistics and services to help PRC businesses explore opportunities in the ASEAN market. I am confident that Singapore and ASEAN, together with China, will continue to forge win-win cooperation in trade, investments, and other areas, for the benefit of our countries and peoples.

Was able to squeeze in some #jalanjalan over the past two days in Nanning. Took in some fresh morning air at Qingxiu mountain (青秀山) yesterday, the ‘green lung’ of Nanning. Was also delighted to stroll around the historic and cultural district Sanjie Liangxiang (三街两巷), which translates to “Three Streets and Two Alleys”. Heading to Shanghai next. Also visited the Shanghai Municipal Humanoid Robot Innovation Incubator. Delighted to see the wide range of applications of robotics and AI. Robots and AI are rapidly advancing and transforming how we live and work. It can also improve our quality of life by doing tasks that would otherwise require people and resources. To reap the benefits we have to update ourselves, upskill, adapt, and embrace new technologies. Then we remain relevant to the world and keep Singapore special. go.gov.sg/577pu1

Had a good meeting with Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng before flying home. We reaffirmed the longstanding relations between Singapore and Shanghai. Also connected with representatives from Singaporean companies and entrepreneurs over lunch today, and enjoyed my #jalanjalan along East Nanjing Road and The Bund last night. Back from my China trip. On the last day in Shanghai, I took a #jalanjalan at 1000 Trees. Was impressed by the harmonious integration of nature and architecture.
