Individuals with signs and symptoms associated with diphtheria should isolate themselves and take precautionary measures while visiting the healthcare facility for diagnosis and treatment.

➡️ Direct contact with infected animals through wounds or cuts
➡️ Eating infected animals or their products including milk.
➡️ Breathing in the spores when an infected animal is slaughtered

It is used to measure country-specific status and progress in developing the capacity to prevent, detect & rapidly respond to public health threats.

Individuals at higher risk of #diphtheria infection are strongly advised to get vaccinated against diphtheria.

Those at higher risk include:
➡️Children & adults who have not received a dose of the diphtheria toxoid-containing vaccine
➡️People living in crowded environments & areas with poor sanitation
➡️Healthcare workers & those exposed to cases of diphtheria

Visit a primary health care centre close to you to get the anti-diphtheria vaccine.
