Store all food items away from contact with rats.

#LassaFever can be transmitted by food that has been contaminated with the urine and faeces of infected rats.

Ensure all food items are cooked properly before eating.
#Lassafever remains a major public health challenge in West Africa with Nigeria bearing the highest burden.

Healthcare workers are advised to always practice standard precautions.

Wear gloves and other appropriate personal protective equipment while providing care to patients.
Having clean hands is one of the simplest and most effective ways to stay healthy and control the spread of #diseases.

#WashYourHands:
Before eating or preparing a meal
After sneezing/coughing
After using sanitary facilities
Upon arriving at work, school or back home
Germs can live on surfaces for hours and can easily be passed from person to person through our hands.
