In the chats of public crypto channels, you can often see messages like this:

I was cleaning my disk recently and found a lot of useful trading manuals. If anyone’s interested, message me — I can share them for free.

At first glance, it looks like a harmless offer, but in reality, it’s not.

Even ordinary PDF files can give scammers access to your device and cryptocurrency wallets.

How does it work?

1. A scammer exploits file format vulnerabilities and embeds malicious code inside the document. It runs as soon as the victim opens the PDF.
2. The file may contain malicious links that execute scripts when clicked.

The consequences can vary — from replacing wallet addresses during transfers to the silent theft of cryptocurrency.
