Recently, leadership from Indian Affairs visited Alaska and California to meet with tribal leaders and discuss ways to streamline processes and reduce red tape.
These efforts arenβt just bureaucratic β they directly support tribal law enforcement officers by making it easier for them to access funding, training, and resources. When tribal police have what they need, they can focus on protecting their communities, preventing crime, and keeping residents safe.
By working hand-in-hand with tribal leaders, Indian Affairs ensures the federal government meets its trust responsibility, strengthens law enforcement, and empowers officers to serve effectively.

No officers or community members were injured during this incident.
A black steel handgun, loaded with a high capacity magazine and live rounds, was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence.

Three masked suspects emerged from the car, each armed with a firearm, and confronted the workers. The suspects, described as follows, pointed their weapons at the victims and demanded their belongings:
β’ Suspect 1: Wore a black sweatshirt, pants, shoes, and mask, carrying a handgun.
β’ Suspect 2: Wore a light gray sweatshirt, black pants, shoes, and a black mask, also carrying a handgun.
