Now, if someone logs into your account, they won’t be able to transfer your gifts or send offers for other users’ gifts.

They must wait 7 days for these actions to become available.

Telegram has also fixed a bug that allowed automatic login to your account via scam links.

As expected, gifts that were on the blockchain can’t be used for crafting. So be careful: you might be sold a gift that was previously on the blockchain, and you won’t be able to use it for crafting. Always check the previous owners before buying.

Recently, Telegram expanded the list of countries where users can post Stories without a Telegram Premium subscription (1 Story every 24 hours). However, some users still can’t post free Stories — this means they’ve already posted Stories before. There’s a limited number of Stories non-Premium users can post over the entire lifetime of an account.

As users in Russia may have already felt firsthand — and others may have seen in the news — Roskomnadzor is restricting Telegram’s operation in Russia.

Roskomnadzor said it will continue to gradually impose restrictions on Telegram until the service «starts complying with Russian law» and «ensures the protection of users personal data». The agency is also unhappy with the lack of «real measures» against fraud and the use of the messenger for criminal and terrorist purposes.

In short, Russian lawmakers want everyone to play by their rules — but that’s not going to happen :)

The warning that a gift offer is too low or too high (first screenshot) was added back on December 12.
Why users kept missing it and falling for fake offers is unclear — most likely they just didn’t notice.

They make all interface text start with a lowercase letter and tweak how the text in Offers is displayed, to reduce scams (second screenshot).

Note: the English and Russian versions are supported on Telegram for Android, iOS, Desktop, and macOS. The Ukrainian version isn’t available on macOS (temporarily).

Telegram's «Reply in Another Chat» feature is broken. When you try to quote a message from another chat, the server returns "REPLY_MESSAGE_ID_INVALID" error.

In the new update Telegram Beta for iOS v12.5 (32413), time references in messages are now highlighted. For example, if a message says «today Telegram dropped a new iOS beta — version 12.5», the word «today» will be highlighted. Tapping it lets you set a reminder in the chat or add the event to your calendar.

You or your contact can now restrict copying, save and forwarding in regular private chats. Previously, this was only available in Secret Chats, groups, channels, and bots (via the Bot API).

To enable it, open the contact’s profile, tap «Edit», and turn on «Restrict Saving Content».

As Toberg said, gifts that were previously on the blockchain can’t be used in the first slot for crafting — meaning their number won’t transfer to the crafted gift.

This is because the gift’s record stays on the blockchain (technically it could be changed, but Telegram doesn’t do it).
After crafting, the gift is burned in Telegram and sent to the zero address on the blockchain.

Note that this feature is currently only available on the test server. In my view, it’s already ready, but for some unknown reason, it hasn’t been enabled in production yet.

In upcoming Telegram updates, you’ll be able to use Premium emoji in a bot’s WebApp bottom buttons — specifically in the «MainButton» and «SecondaryButton».

For now, this is only visible in Telegram WebK (if you build your own version). Stable and Beta releases don’t support it yet.

Previously, I showed in short Telegram videos that the login widget for third-party services (like Fragment) has been updated.
The video above shows this new login, which currently works only on the test server.

Logging into other services will be faster using a QR code, or you can still use the old method with your phone number.
The QR code login opens a new modal where you can also choose which account to use for login.

Later, the widget will allow adding multiple accounts (as shown in Telegram’s short videos).

Bots will get a new Web Login setting.
In the Web Login section, there’s a new button «Switch to OpenID Connect Login». Once you press it, the action can’t be undone. You’ll get a generated Client ID and a Client Secret token, which you can revoke to generate a new one.

Group tags. Founders and admins can now assign tags to users in groups.

Tags appear next to a user’s name in the group without granting them admin rights.

The chat founder is now marked in purple, while admins are shown in green.
